After a competition phase, SVR-ARCHITECTS was selected by Ghent University for the development of a master plan and the design of an education and research building on the site of the former Institute for Nuclear Sciences in Ghent. The master plan provides for a centrally open park area with water features and valuable trees. The intended buildings are located along the outer edge of this park area. The first building houses the Bioscience Engineering. It provides 16.450 m² of gross floor space and includes classrooms, practicals, laboratories, offices, pilot hall and a cafeteria. This translates into a five-storey building with a length of almost 100 meters.
