The Mother and Child Centre designed by SVR-ARCHITECTS has been opened by Queen Mathilde, who also lent her name to the new hospital wing at Antwerp University Hospital in Edegem. The new department came about partly because of lack of space in the neonatal ward. Construction started in 2011 and has delivered 80 beds. It will house the obstetrics, neonatology and paediatrics teams, facilitating a focus on mother and child. Attention has been drawn amongst others to the comfortable accommodation facilities for the parents of a sick child or a new-born. Go to the project page for more detailed information
