Summary

The architects Storme Storkebaum Van Ranst were given the commission by the Province and the University of Antwerp to design a building for the Incubation and Innovation Centre.

The centre wants to promote, support and develop the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s) in new technologies and to offer an affordable infrastructure, qualitative service and easy access to university research centres.

The architects, being experienced in laboratories and industrial buildings, accepted the challenge: create a building without knowing the customers neither their requirements neither the use of the entirety.

The architects created a universa! building in H-form: the centra! part provides accommodation for the reception, the technica! and sanitary rooms. The flexible functions, modular offices as well as the production branches are located in the wings.
