The award Jef Van Ranst 2019 was presented during the Architecture Festival at the end of September.
The Jef Van Ranst Foundation annually searches for design drawings that visually challenge, question or express a process, an idea or a spatial proposal. The Jef Van Ranst Prize of the same name is exclusively for students of all Flemish architectural education institutions. The Prize is awarded to one master student and one (this year exceptionally two) bachelor student (s) from one of the participating institutions. Each institution must submit work for the selection of two Bachelor’s and two Master’s students. A professional jury selects laureates from the entries within the lines of the freehand design sketches, the process drawing and the drawing as a means of communication. This year, Master’s degree in Architecture Sophie Leemans (KULeuven) and Bachelor’s degree in Architecture Geraldine Vlaeminck (KULeuven) and Malinde Vanlee (UHasselt) won this prize. They both received the cash prize and Sophie was given the opportunity to complete her internship at SVR-ARCHITECTS.
