RESIDENTIAL CARE CENTRE HOF TEN DORPE

New construction of residential care centre with indoor garden, multipurpose hall & cafeteria + accommodation for dementia sufferers + day care places

Project description

Following the commissioning of the new Revarté rehabilitation hospital in Edegem and the Hof Ter Schelde residential care centre on the left bank, MKL decided to develop a new vision for the future and a mass plan for the Hof Ten Dorpe site in Wommelgem.

This vision led to a mass plan with 2 linked volumes which, via a glass connecting corridor, together form the new Hof Ten Dorpe (HTD) residential care centre. On the one hand, the Hof Ten Dorpe (HTD) garden volume and, on the other, the HTD street volume.

Both volumes together have a surface area of 9,175 m² and accommodate various sub-functions with a total of 105 beds:

  • HTD – garden volume (3 storeys) with 80 rooms for dementia patients, divided into 5 living groups of 16 rooms with indoor garden.  Service functions (changing rooms and storage rooms) in the basement.
  • HTD – street volume: one classic residential care unit for somatic care with 25 rooms and associated service functions. On the ground floor a large cafeteria and a multi-purpose room, visually connecting to the garden.  On the 2nd floor, there is space for 15 day-care places including a private roof terrace.
